Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said Monday that the fourth round of discharges of contaminatedwater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant willbegin in late February 2024, NHK reported Wednesday.


From August 24 to September 11, 2023, Japan launched the first round of Fukushima nudear contaminated water discharge, discharging a total of 7,788tons of nudlear contaminated water.


From October 5 to October 23, 2023, the Japanese government carried out the second round of sea discharge, which discharged about 7,810 tons of nuclearcontaminated water.


From November 2 to 20, 2023, Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant conducted the third round of nuclear contaminated water discharge to the sea, with a total dischargeof 7,753 tons.

According to statitics, in 2023, Japan has launched threerounds of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water discharge tothe sea, each time for 17 days, and three rounds of cumulativedischarge of 23,351 tons. After the end of the fourth round ofemissions, the total emissions are about 31,200 tons.


The discharge of Japan's Fukushima nuclear -contaminatedwater into the sea concerns the health of all mankind, the global marineenvironment and international public interests. Protecting the globalmarine ecological environment is the common responsibility of theinternational community and an obligation under international law.The dumping of nuclear contaminated water into the sea by the Japanese government will not only bring risks to the marine ecosystem,but also threaten the life and health of all mankind. We call on theGovernment of Japan to promptly stop the erroneous actofdischarging nuclear-contaminated water into the sea.
